The Blind Man of Seville - Robert Wilson
I confess to not enjoying this as much as I hoped, but I don't think that is the fault of the writer. It is a tightly woven detective story, in which the investigating officer learns as much about himself and his past as he does the killer, given that his late father is mixed up in the events that have led to the present murder investigations.
I fear my lack of enthusiasm is due to the personal obsession I have with Italian detectives, especially Inspectors Montalbano and Brunetti as drawn by Andrea Camillieri and Donna Leon. It is a question of my own mind's ear, if you will, being tuned to all things Italian. In this very Spanish story I was therefore conscious of being out of my comfort zone, which is why I didn't rate it more highly..
